Meeting Details
Start Time:
WA State TBI Support Group
Description
The session will be focusing on the topic of identifying negative thoughts and emotions, which could be interfering with a good quality of life. After a brain injury, an individual may experience irrational thoughts, and subsequent emotions, from familiar people and situations. However, these thoughts and emotions could be a product of an inability to objectively view situations following a brain injury. Through discussion and practice, the group will explore practices self-awareness and mindful techniques, while providing opportunities for personal support and reflection.
Washington State Support Groups
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
The Washington State Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Strategic Partnership Advisory Council provides Support Groups through the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) that emphasize connection, education, and engagement in life after sustaining a TBI.
Our Support Groups are predicated on the concept of a person-centered approach that can aid in the development of long-term knowledge and generic problem-solving skills to help attendees overcome barriers to sustaining a fulfilling life.
These Support Groups may provide a therapeutic effect, but they do not provide therapy and instead focus on delivering organized bodies of knowledge and resources for the betterment of attendees.
*Please note, groups with "private" in the title are specifically for groups hosted in facilities and are not open for public entry.
