The Arc Rhode Island leads state-level public policy activities as well as provides training, public awareness,education and grassroots advocacy building to protect the rights of Rhode Islanders with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Joanna Scocchi joined as State Director of The Arc Rhode Island to restart the state office in Rhode Island which had been absent for fifteen years. Our state office works each day with individuals, families, state officials, legislators, advocacy groups and other stakeholders to ensure that we are continusoulsy striving for improvement in the Rhode Island developmental disabilitiy service system. The Arc Rhode Island joins a network of more than 620 state and local chapters that provide direct support services and advocate for the rights of people with I/DD around the country.
Our state office provides educational advocacy services for families with children in K-12 and resources for other disability programs, services and learning opportunities and workshops so that the rights of individuals with disabilities and their families are protected.
