Biography

My name is Michelle. I am 43 years old and live in Wisconsin with my wife of 16 yrs, 4 cats & 5 rabbits. My mental health history started when I was 12 making it a 31 year journey. Because of my successes and set backs with my own recovery, 3 years ago I chose to become a Certified Peer Specialist. In my current role, I work full-time in a supportive living apartment providing peer support for 30 adults with mental health/AODA concerns. I am LGBTQ+ identified & a rabbit judge (strange, right?)

Recovery Story

I was brought up by an alcoholic dad & an emotionally absent mom. BPD, self-harm and suicidality resulted. I now live a life in recovery, something I never thought I could do.

My Motivation To Help

As someone who thought I would never "get better" I am passionate about helping others in their own recovery because I know how hard it can be and I know that it can be done.
