Thomara Shoulders
Certified Peer Supporter

Biography
Hey Peers! I am certified by the Virginia Certification Board as a Peer Recovery Specialist. I am also registered with the Virginia Department of Health Professions. I started my peer journey in 2013 when I started volunteering for NAMI. I am trained in several of their programs to provide peer support. I have taken several trainings to help me provide the best peer support. A few of my trainings include Trauma-Informed Peer support, WRAP Facilitator training, and Intentional Peer Support. I have a wealth of knowledge about resources and programs. And, if there is a question that I don't know, I will work diligently to find an answer. I am also a Family Support Partner. I have helped many parents with children with special needs. I also have a wealth of knowledge in resources and programs for adolescents. Although I have had many trainings, my lived experience has been my best and most important training. My lived experience has allowed me to meet people where they are. I am not a therapist or a clinician. My job is to help and support you through whatever recovery journey you choose.
