About the host
I'm a retired, suburban, middle-class dad with four adult children of every description. They have challenged me as a parent in every way : in both active and passive support of their strengths, skills and talents, and their weaknesses, limitations, and disabilities. My experience has included navigating our mental health system, where I have learned its terrain in my geography and worked to improve it through advocacy. I bring this experience to facilitation of support groups for loved one of those who experience mental illness.

NAMI Minnesota

NAMI Minnesota champions justice, dignity and respect for all people affected by mental illnesses. Through education, support and advocacy we strive to eliminate the pervasive stigma of mental illnesses, affect positive changes in the mental health system, and increase the public and professional understanding of mental illnesses.

NAMI Minnesota offers many support groups for adults living with mental illnesses and their families. Our free support groups are led by trained volunteers with lived experience. Support groups provide a welcoming, respectful, and safe space to build awareness and understanding while learning from and connecting with others.  The two main populations we serve are adults living with mental illnesses and adults with loved ones who are living with mental illnesses.
