About this meeting
We’ve created these official AARP groups for you as a place to connect with other family caregivers caring for family, friends, and neighbors. You'll have the opportunity to share practical tips, receive and give support, and discuss your family caregiving experiences. (Please note: this group is for those who are caring for family and friends, not for those who are professional caregivers.) Our support group meetings are confidential and led by trained facilitators who offer caregiving education, support and understanding for participants. Our meetings include time for meaningful peer-to-peer sharing and support. The recording of support group sessions is strictly prohibited. Please note, one of the support group rules is that you keep your video on during the session. People feel more secure in sharing if they can see one another. To promote safety in the session, this expectation is mandatory UNLESS unusual circumstances exist. If they do, the entire group must agree to let you participate without video. If consensus is not reached, we ask you to kindly return to a session at a time when video participation is possible. Thank you.

About the host
Hi! I’m Amy Goyer, AARP’s national family and caregiving expert. I’ve been an advocate for family caregivers for more than 40 years, working in the field of aging and drawing from my own lifelong caregiving experience. I’ve cared for my grandparents, sister, and my parents who lived with me—Dad had Alzheimer’s and Mom had a stroke. I moderate AARP’s Family Caregiver Discussion Group on Facebook and am the author of "Juggling Life, Work and Caregiving". I look forward to supporting you on your caregiving journey.
