About this meeting
Sometimes getting started is the hardest part — and doing it in community makes all the difference. In this virtual group, we use our time together as gentle accountability and companionship while we each work on whatever is on our plate. You bring your own task; we bring the support. This space can be used for organizing, chores, creative projects, paperwork or anything you are struggling to get done. As someone with ADHD, I know how helpful body doubling is for me to focus and get things done. How it works: Body doubling is simply a practice of working alongside another person to help with focus and follow-through. It’s especially helpful for hard-to-start or hard-to-finish tasks. In this social meeting we open with a check-in where each person shares what they plan to work on. Then we settle into our projects, and chit chat. At the end we will close with a 5-minute wrap-up to reflect on how our projects went. Come as you are. This is a caring, low-pressure space where you don’t have to work alone. Video is optional. Looking for my other Body Doubling meeting? The "silent work" body doubling meetings typically run twice most weekdays at 8:45am PT/11:45am ET and again at 1:00pm PT/4:00pm ET and on weekends Saturday or Sunday at 1:00 or 1:30pm PT/4:00 or 4:30pm ET To see all my meetings and connect with me on my profile: https://www.heypeers.com/peer_supporters/174184

About the host
I’m a certified peer support specialist and coach living in Southern California, I host support groups meetings on HeyPeers and also work one-on-one helping support peers with BFRB recovery and recovery from other compulsive behaviors, habits and unhelpful thoughts.  I identify as a neurodivergent woman and mother with ADHD, PMDD, and sensory differences. Since 2020 I’ve been in recovery from skin picking disorder (also known as dermatillomania and excoriation disorder). I’ve since learned that this compulsive habit is called BFRB - Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors. I believe in the power of community and have been attending various types of support groups since 2017. In my free time I like to craft with yarn and spend time outdoors hiking while looking for pretty rocks.
Motivation for help
After 4 years of successful recovery I knew I had enough recovery experience to be a helpful support for others struggling with compulsive habits. I decided to completed the training and testing to get my peer support certification, so I can be a productive helper from a place of lived experience. I’ve embraced my sensory needs and learned tools and strategies to stay recovered, and I love holding space for others to find their own healing and recovery. I’m inspired to share my message of hope for the possibility of a better future by facilitating groups and holding space for one-on-one support, as well as offering encouragement and accountability.
