About this meeting
BPD is often talked about in extremes, and living with it is full of both/and experiences.
BPD: Both/And is a peer support space for adults living with Borderline Personality Disorder to connect with others who understand the intensity, complexity, struggles, and strengths that can come with it.
There is no single theme you need to prepare for. Each meeting creates space to talk openly about real-life experiences such as emotional intensity, relationships and attachment, black-and-white thinking, identity, impulsivity, boundaries, communication, stigma, coping, growth, and the skills we've developed along the way.
We won't only talk about what's difficult. We'll also explore resilience, self-awareness, empathy, connection, adaptability, and the strengths we discover as we learn to understand ourselves differently.
Come as you are. Share what's relevant to you, listen, connect, and leave with perspectives from people who genuinely get it.
This is a peer-led support group based on shared lived experience. It is not therapy or a substitute for professional mental health treatment.
If you are experiencing a crisis or need immediate support, please reach out to 988 or your local crisis support services.
🫶 Our Group Agreements 🫶
BPD can show up differently for each of us. This space welcomes different perspectives, experiences, stages of growth, and ways of navigating life with BPD.
🤝 Respect is required.
You do not have to agree with another person to treat their experience with respect.
🔎 Lead with curiosity rather than judgment.
When someone's experience, reaction, or perspective is different from yours, get curious before making assumptions about what it means.
💬 Share lived experience rather than giving advice.
Speak from the “I”- what you've experienced, what you've tried, what helped you, or what you learned. Offer possibilities rather than telling another person what they should do.
💜 Give grace when you disagree.
Two people can experience similar situations very differently, and both experiences can be valid. Disagreement is welcome when it is approached with compassion and respect.
🧩 Your experience is yours- not everyone's.
There is no single “BPD experience.” Please avoid generalizing your experience to everyone with BPD or assuming another person's thoughts, feelings, intentions, or diagnosis.
⚖️ Make room for one another.
Be mindful of airtime, interruptions, and cross-talk so everyone who wants an opportunity to participate can have one.
🔐 Protect the space.
What is shared in the group stays in the group. You may take the tools, insights, and lessons with you- please leave other people's personal stories here.
✋ Facilitator Note ✋
As the facilitator, I may use my Raise Hand function when I need to pause the conversation. I may also temporarily mute the group when needed to redirect discussion, address a concern, respect our limited meeting time, or maintain a safe and respectful space for everyone.
A pause or redirection is not a punishment or judgment. It is simply part of my responsibility to hold the space for the entire group.

About the host
✦ HEY YA'LL, I'M STARLITA! YOU CAN CALL ME STAR ✦ I'm a Nebraska State Certified Peer Support Specialist and Nebraska Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR) Approved Parenting Act Mediator, with training in Basic and Parenting Act Mediation. I'm also a mom of four, a partner, and someone who has lived through many complicated seasons of life. ◆ MY LIVED EXPERIENCES ◆ My lived experience includes an ACE score of 10, complex trauma, dissociation, self-harm, substance misuse, assault survival, domestic violence (both childhood and adult relationships), juvenile placements, inpatient and partial treatment programs, blended family dynamics, co/parallel parenting challenges, postpartum anxiety, chronic illness and pain, nervous system dysregulation, and body image struggles, especially following major pre- and post-operative changes. I've experienced the long, messy process of rebuilding a life outside of survival mode. I'm currently navigating another season of change following the suicide of my ex-husband, the father of my two oldest children. Through these experiences, I've learned that healing, grief, growth, and rebuilding rarely follow a straight line. We don't have to navigate these seasons alone. Over the years, I've also navigated therapy systems, IEPs, parenting children with diverse emotional and behavioral needs, family conflict, caregiving stress, and the emotional isolation that can come with living in rural communities. ◆ MY APPROACH TO PEER SUPPORT ◆ My approach is person-centered, family-aware, and trauma-informed, grounded in the belief that people are more than their diagnoses, labels, or hardest moments. My mediation background also informs how I approach communication, conflict, different perspectives, and navigating difficult decisions while respecting each person's autonomy. I'm passionate about meeting people where they are, walking alongside them at their pace, and offering support in the ways that feel most helpful during their current season. Together, we can explore experiences, perspectives, possibilities, and next steps without pressure to have everything figured out. Peer support is not therapy, clinical treatment, legal advice, or mediation. It's an opportunity to connect with someone who brings lived experience, compassion, curiosity, and a willingness to listen, reflect, and explore alongside you. ◆ RE5IVE: MY PERSONAL FRAMEWORK ◆ Much of my work is rooted in the Re5ive framework I created through my own recovery journey: Rest • Regulate • Reflect • Reframe • Reset. A practical, nervous-system-aware approach focused on awareness, regulation, self-compassion, and sustainable growth through difficult seasons of life. ◆ QUESTIONS, SCHEDULING & FINANCIAL ACCESSIBILITY ◆ If you have questions, need support on days or at times outside my listed availability, or are navigating financial or budget challenges, I invite you to reach out. I understand that life, schedules, and finances don't always fit neatly into a booking calendar. I'm flexible when possible, and I don't want these barriers to prevent you from seeking support. We can explore scheduling, sliding-scale pricing, or other support options together. My goal is to meet you where you are, walk alongside you at your pace, and help you find support that feels accessible and meaningful in this season. ◆ OUTSIDE OF PEER SUPPORT ◆ I love writing, reading, art, music, being outdoors, and spending time with my kids and partner.
Motivation for help
My motivation comes from knowing how powerful it is to have someone walk alongside you and meet you where you are in a season of life-not where others expect you to be. ✦ Through my own experiences with trauma, chronic illness, parenting, blended family dynamics, recovery, and rebuilding after difficult seasons, I learned the value of validation, grounding, and compassionate curiosity-for others and myself. ✦ My goal is to help people reconnect with their body, rediscover their strengths, build support systems and practical tools for real life. To feel less alone while navigating hard seasons.
