Feeling like nobody understands your experience as a single, LGBT+ individual? Are you feeling out of touch with the LGBT+ dating scene? You're not alone! In this peer run group we'll discuss ways to keep our confidence and self-esteem high while staying true to ourselves while dating as an LGBT+ person. We also will touch on topics that address many issues we face when dating as LGBT+ people. Please register for group or join our group chat to have those serious discussions with people who feel the same as you.
About the host
I'm an African American, non-binary person living in Northern Colorado with my partner of 7 years and our 8 pets (and probably counting). I love interacting with others as well as balancing that with my personal self-care time. My self-care generally consists of gardening, creative writing, and doing anything related to Pokémon. Humor and music are big parts of my life and have helped me get through a lot. I play 6 instruments and I love to cook. Feel free to ask me more about myself!
Motivation for help
I've had a strong desire to work in the mental health and substance abuse field from my late teens-early twenties where I had the experience of meeting a child who was mentally and emotionally hurting. It helped me to build the desire to help those who are experiencing/reliving trauma and are being misunderstood. Over the years, I found that I can do more to help as a Peer Specialis/Coach because there is so much more that can be gained from the addition of someone who can attest to having similar experiences in the care team of those who are experiencing mental heath or substance abuse struggles. My desire to help people feel less alone and to help others live the lives they see themselves living is what motivates me to help from a Peer Support position.
