About this meeting
"The Art of Crisis" introduces the concept of "artistic reset," allowing a weekly pause to reconsider how we view mental health. Curator M. will present our Art Therapy Open Call program and ways to shift mental health crisis into mental health arts advocacy for self-empowerment. An introduction to some of our current 34 Gallery Artists & Writers will also be included. We encourage participants to bring their writing journals and art sketchbooks to jot down ideas, inspirations and the weekly "homework" prompts.

About the host

The 34 Gallery logo
The 34 Gallery is a UN SDG 3.4 Mental Health Arts Initiative created by our parent organization, SimukaAfrica.org. Our participating artists currently represent 35 countries. Our initiative aims to explore monthly mental health themes through art therapy, outreach and advocacy.

We offer free peer support groups to explore mental health and shared lived experience through creative expression, including fine, audiovisual & A.I. art, writing, and music. As we grow, dance and additional artforms will also be included.

Remember: Artists create Golden Ages. Join us in starting one! Let's remind humanity to embrace the light of who we are. Your artistic mental health advocacy with us can and will make a difference. Someone seeing your work through our Art Therapy Open Calls or hearing your participation in a group can inspire others to keep going with hope and resilience despite their mental health struggles.
