Thank you for taking the steps to connect with fellow peers. It is a great privilege for you to consider working with me. I promise to do my best to support you on your recovery journey. Please know that whatever you are feeling is not forever and it is possible to feel better. I’m living proof and I hope that I get to meet you where you are on your own journey. Let’s start a healing together.
Biography
My name is Chelsea Lesner-Buxton, and I am a 28-year-old disability rights advocate. I am visually impaired, have a mental illness, and identify in the queer community. I was born with low vision and became legally blind at the age of 25. I got diagnosed with major depression and generalized anxiety at the age of 21, although I was dealing with it for much longer. I have job experience working as an attendant for people with dementia and those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I also have experience volunteering for a mental health advocacy group where I hosted meetings about the link to being in the LGBTQ+ community and mental illness. In 2021 I spoke at a statewide peer mental health conference. In my downtime, you can find me jamming out to Taylor Swift or playing with my dog.
