About Iman
Hi, I'm Iman. I believe deeply in the healing power of connection and in the idea that no one should have to face life's challenges alone. My life has been shaped by grief and loss, trauma, gun violence, domestic violence, mental health challenges, addiction, poverty, housing instability, criminal justice involvement, parenting struggles, caregiver burnout, and navigating life as a refugee of the Gulf War. I have also experienced the profound losses of both my husband and my son. These experiences have taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of having people who truly listen. They have also shown me that healing isn't about having all the answers—it's about finding support, connection, and hope, even in life's most difficult moments. Today, I dedicate my life to helping others. Through peer support, mental health advocacy, support groups, family education, community outreach, and my nonprofit, Keem's Dream, I work to create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported. People often tell me they feel comfortable opening up to me because I create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where they can be honest about what they're carrying. I don't believe in fixing people. I believe in listening with empathy, sharing hope, connecting people to resources, and walking alongside them as they discover their own strength. When I'm not working, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, solving puzzles, watching movies, trying new foods, or hanging out with my Yorkie.
My Recovery Story
I still cry for my son every day, and my healing journey continues. Recovery hasn't meant leaving my grief behind, it has meant learning to carry it differently. Through peer support, community, and helping others, I found purpose again. My life isn't perfect, but it is meaningful, and that's what I hope to share with others who are struggling.
My Motivation To Help
I've survived things I never thought I would survive, including the loss of my son. Through grief, trauma, and life's many challenges, I learned that healing begins when we feel heard and understood. Peer support helped me find hope when I needed it most, and today I am passionate about offering that same hope, compassion, and safe space to others.
