About Gavin

Hey there! I'm Gavin and I'm from Portland OR and I have been doing peer work for a little under 2 years now. I previously worked with youth; however, I am open to expanding my horizons and helping where I can. I have lived experience with addiction and recovery, grief and loss, coming from a dysfunctional household, suicidal ideation, trauma and mental illness. I’m a big gamer and I like playing Magic the Gathering, building/playing Warhammer 40K, I also enjoy hiking and working on being more spiritual.

My Recovery Story

It’s still a daily challenge for me but taking the time to learn about myself and grow as a person has been a fulfilling experience. Learning to love myself took some time and I’m still working on it but I’m not as hard on myself anymore. I’d say I’m in a good spot in life and I’m working towards a masters degree in counseling.

My Motivation To Help

I’ve been in recovery for about 8 years now and coming from a disfuncional household, I didn’t have someone I could look up to or depend on. I’ve spent the last few years working on growing as a person and finding out I can be that supportive person for someone else is pretty rad!
