About Ashley

My name is Ashley and I am a NYS Certified Peer Support Specialist. I have been working in peer support and crisis services for over 7 years and in the human service field for over a decade. One thing I have learned over the years is that it is important to meet people where they are. I have lived with my own challenges with depression, mood disorder, substance misuse, parenting, weight management, confidence, and surviving trauma. As a result, I understand the importance of supporting others with empathy and without judgement. I show up with honesty, compassion, respect, and passion for helping others to feel seen, heard, and supported with their own journey.

My Recovery Story

My experience with recovery mainly includes living with mental health concerns and not giving up on my road to recovery. Recovery for me doesn’t mean that I no longer have mental health issues. It means that I have learned how to live a more fulfilling life with it. I’ve learned how to build coping skills, set healthy boundaries, and practice self-compassion while navigating life’s challenges. Today, my quality of life is rooted in balance, growth, and purpose. While challenges still arise, I feel more grounded, resilient, and hopeful. My lived experience allows me to support others with authenticity and reassurance that change is possible and that recovery looks different for everyone.

My Motivation To Help

My motivation to help comes from both my professional experience and my lived experience. I know how powerful it can be to feel truly heard and understood, especially during difficult or uncertain times. Peer support played an important role in my own journey, and I’m passionate about offering that same sense of connection, hope, and encouragement to others. I believe healing happens in community, and I’m honored to walk alongside people as they work toward their goals.
