About this meeting
This meeting is designed, led and attended by those who are diagnosed with depression or believe they may have a depressive disorder. The intention of this group is to create a safe space for sharing depression stories, questions and concerns. Our engaging video-based groups provide self-help education and peer support. Led by a Certified Peer Specialist, these meetings are confidential and anonymous. You choose how involved you would like to be. If you don't feel comfortable talking - it's OK to just listen.

About the host
Hello! I am a Certified Peer Specialist with experience in the areas of depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, family support, and trauma. I am a state certified WHAM (Whole Health Action Management) wellness coach, Certified Parent Peer Support Specialist, and experienced WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) group facilitator. I am also certified by the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association as a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP). I feel honored and privileged to support peers along their recovery journey by using my training, lived experience, and compassionate connection.
Motivation for help
After experiencing the loss of my son and his father to suicide, I am motivated to support family and friends who support loved ones living with mental illness or addiction or who have lost loved ones to suicide. I also want to help peers recognize that a mental health diagnosis or substance use disorder does not prevent them from living the life they deserve and desire.

Christina Jones has lived experience - she invites sharing from participants and comes prepared with helpful information about getting out of yourself to get un-stuck when feeling overwhelmed or preoccupied fearful or have anxiety. GREAT group !

I absolutely love having Christina leading the Black Community Groups! It's such a a refreshing experience being able to share comfortably knowing that the leader's encouraging everyone with good intention; as she gently guides us in the direction of healing and hope. Through her supportive nature, she helps us see that it is our own strength, courage, and resilience that has sustained us thus far. That helps remind us that healing comes from within, and I appreciate that reminder. I'm so grateful that she held space for us today<3

Christina was nice and seemed friendly. I did not like her co-leader Tim. Please remind leaders and co-leaders that there are members who for various reasons (like being new, not feeling comfortable sharing on a particular day) only want to listen and be a part of a group. Just being around others suffering from mental illness, along with hearing their stories and the support offered is helpful. Please be respectful of shy and introverted members and do not pressure them to participate or remove them if they don’t.
