Today's meeting (to say the least) was extremely disturbing. When a participant starts talking about taking their life (and include a description of how they'd do it) it not only is no longer a space for healing, but it then becomes an unsafe space for everyone in attendance the moment the group leader allows it to continue without interjecting, gently redirecting, and/or offering resources to help. I will no longer be subjecting myself to this level of toxicity by expecting this particular group leader to keep the discussion flowing in a healthy way

When it comes to SI, a facilitator should "leave the advice to the professionals!" It was very disturbing listening to advice being given about such a serious matter

Project Return Peer Support Network

PRPSN offers peer-to-peer support to help individuals reach their personal goals, such as living independently, going to school, getting a job, having friends and enjoying life in the community, and advancing in their recovery. Each group is individualized and self-directed. Activities and curricula are created by the facilitators and group participants. While some groups direct conversations on specific recovery-based discussions, others focus on physical wellness and its connection to mental wellness, building socialization skills, and the exploration of varying coping methods ranging from arts and music to writing and much, much more!
