About this meeting
Bring your art supplies and your big ideas! Each month, I will offer a THRIVE X 3 Project, and this is our maiden voyage! Let’s set individual goals and create treasure maps together! It’s similar to a vision board but it has specific steps along the way to a goal you choose. You can use magazine pics / words you want to cut out, a sketchbook and colored pencils, or anything artsy you have on hand. We will explore the purpose of a treasure map, the steps to creating one, and then we will create our own and share them (if you want to).
About the host
I am a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in the state of Florida. I have a long history of service in the teaching profession, as well as interests in mental health, community organizing, and activism. I work hard at my recovery from mental health struggles. I am a survivor of intimate partner violence and passionate about supporting others as they break the cycle and rebuild their lives. I enjoy providing support and resources on many topics and find the most value can be generated when we are all learning from one another's life experiences. We all have wisdom in specific areas of life. Sharing that wisdom and support with each other is what it's all about. I am a proud and active ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, dedicated to providing a culturally conscious space that recognizes each human as unique and beautiful, and sensitive to the myriad needs of individual Hey Peers community members. Fostering and protecting the emotional safety of the spaces I provide is of utmost importance.
Motivation for help
After a mental health crisis that brought my life to a halt, I found peer support and new recovery tools that enabled me to want to live again. I have since changed my primary goal in life from surviving my mental illness to thriving as my authentic self. I am eager to help others through whichever part of the journey they are on at this time.
