About the host
You are the expert of your own life. I’m just here to walk alongside you, not lead the way. Hi, I’m Katie. I’m a Certified Peer Support Specialist in two states & Oregon Certified Recovery Mentor II. I also work professionally as a Peer Recovery Coach in a residential treatment facility. Being diagnosed with PTSD, GAD, MDD, Substance Use Disorder, and Panic Disorder, I bring my own lived experience navigating mental health and addiction into the work I do, hoping to inspire you (and myself at times) to never give up. I gladly offer my support to you in the areas of anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, substance use disorder, life transitions, and, our dear old friend, emotional overload! When you join me in either my chat rooms, live meetings or searching for a peer to just listen, I offer REAL conversations in a non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere. We can either sit in silence, or share our understandings of one another in a space that is safe and secure. Whatever you need, I'm all ears, peer-to-peer. In my groups, you can expect a supportive, respectful environment where everyone has the option to share at their own pace. There’s no pressure, no expectations—just real conversation, connection, and encouragement. I find that joining in the conversations rather than just facilitating them makes a big difference in how community accumulates. I’m extremely passionate about creating spaces where people feel heard, supported, and not alone in what they’re going through.
Motivation for help
Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes it feels like no one truly understands. I’ve been there too. Let's walk this journey together! Whether you’re looking to vent, connect, or just be present with others who “get it,” you're in the right place. My motivation for help comes deep within my traumatized bones. I had to search high and low to find that flickering light inside me. I'm highly motivated by the simple fact that recovery is life-long and relapsing can happen with substances AND our own mental progress! I'm here alongside you in this journey :)

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance logo
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) is the leading national organization led by and for people living with depression and bipolar disorder. Our peer-led, wellness-focused resources are available when, where, and how people need them—through online and in-person support groups, podcasts, videos, and print materials distributed nationwide. DBSA support groups offer a safe, understanding space to share experiences, learn coping strategies, and find hope. All groups are led by trained peers—individuals living with mood disorders—who are not mental health professionals but are uniquely equipped to guide and support others on their wellness journey.

We realize that sometimes there are waitlists because the meeting rooms are already at capacity. If this happens when you register for a group, there are more ways to find the support you need:

Standby Rooms
The meeting Standby option allows group leaders to invite waitlisted members into a meeting if seats are open (due to no-shows or last-minute cancellations). Members who are on the meeting's waiting list are invited to enter a virtual "standby room" where they wait until any available seats are offered. These seats are then offered to members in the standby room based on the order of the original waitlist. Learn More

DBSA Chapter Network Support Groups
If you're looking for additional support group options, we encourage you to join a support group through our Chapter Network. You can search for an in-person support group in your area, or, several offer online support groups open to peers nationwide.
