About this meeting
Welcome familiar faces!
If you've attended my hosted groups in the past, you have an idea of how I run them. If you are new, allow me to introduce you to a new constructed group; Depression Bipolar (& everything in between!) Support Group. If you are navigating mood fluctuations, low energy, or persistent worry, you're not alone. This is a safe space to connect with peers who truly understand the complexity and monstrosity that is mood disorders because, let's face it, nobody truly knows what we're going through unless they've lived it. Here... we live it every day. Following the tradition of peer support, this meeting is led by ME - a peer with lived experience and a heart of gold - creating a non-judgmental environment with an extra side of compassion, equity, and hope.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
-> Peer-led Experience: Facilitated by someone who walks a similar path with bipolar, depression, anxiety, and EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN <3
-> Structured Format: I follow the classic peer support guidelines (check-ins with cameras on, open sharing, zero fixing or judgment, and structure to ensure no chance of monopolizing
-> Safe & Respectful: Compassion and mutual respect are non-negotiable. You share only what you are comfortable sharing.
GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION:
-> Respect everyone's shared lived experience. Please don't just offer advice, instead, join in the conversation and say what has worked (or hasn't worked) for you.
-> Practice active listening without crosstalk or unasked-for medical advice. I'm not a doctor, and even if you are, please consult your patients, not peers.
-> Maintain strict confidentiality to protect our safe space. Vegas rule, what's said here, stays here. Period.
ALTERNATE TOPIC CONCEPTS:
*Unless there is specific topics identified during check-in, we will alternate between these two baseline topics;
-> "Navigating the Waves": Focuses on managing the shifting cycles between high anxiety/mania and low mood
-> "Beyond the Stigma": Focuses on self-compassion and breaking down shame around mental health diagnoses.
* Register early, these groups will fill quickly! * Group posted up until end of December *
About the host
You are the expert of your own life. I’m just here to walk alongside you, not lead the way.
Hi, I’m Katie. I’m a Certified Peer Support Specialist in two states & Oregon Certified Recovery Mentor II. I also work professionally as a Peer Recovery Coach in a residential treatment facility.
Being diagnosed with PTSD, GAD, MDD, Substance Use Disorder, and Panic Disorder, I bring my own lived experience navigating mental health and addiction into the work I do, hoping to inspire you (and myself at times) to never give up.
I gladly offer my support to you in the areas of anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, substance use disorder, life transitions, and, our dear old friend, emotional overload!
When you join me in either my chat rooms, live meetings or searching for a peer to just listen, I offer REAL conversations in a non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere. We can either sit in silence, or share our understandings of one another in a space that is safe and secure.
Whatever you need, I'm all ears, peer-to-peer.
In my groups, you can expect a supportive, respectful environment where everyone has the option to share at their own pace. There’s no pressure, no expectations—just real conversation, connection, and encouragement. I find that joining in the conversations rather than just facilitating them makes a big difference in how community accumulates. I’m extremely passionate about creating spaces where people feel heard, supported, and not alone in what they’re going through.
Motivation for help
Life can be overwhelming, and sometimes it feels like no one truly understands. I’ve been there too. Let's walk this journey together!
Whether you’re looking to vent, connect, or just be present with others who “get it,” you're in the right place.
My motivation for help comes deep within my traumatized bones. I had to search high and low to find that flickering light inside me.
I'm highly motivated by the simple fact that recovery is life-long and relapsing can happen with substances AND our own mental progress!
I'm here alongside you in this journey :)
