About the host
I bring lived experience with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, trauma, more than 30 years of recovery from substance use, divorce, grief, and fatherhood. I support adults who feel overwhelmed, worn down, lonely, or unsure what comes next. You do not have to clean up your story or find the right words before talking with me. I’m not here to diagnose you or tell you how to live. I’m here to listen, share what has helped me when it fits, and help you sort through what you are carrying one step at a time.
Motivation for help
I became a peer supporter because I remember what it felt like to need someone who could listen without trying to fix me. I have been the person walking into a support space unsure what to say and wondering whether anyone would understand. The people who made room for me showed me how much honest, human connection can matter. I want to offer that same kind of support to someone else, especially on the days when they feel alone or worn down.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance logo
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) is the leading national organization led by and for people living with depression and bipolar disorder. Our peer-led, wellness-focused resources are available when, where, and how people need them—through online and in-person support groups, podcasts, videos, and print materials distributed nationwide. DBSA support groups offer a safe, understanding space to share experiences, learn coping strategies, and find hope. All groups are led by trained peers—individuals living with mood disorders—who are not mental health professionals but are uniquely equipped to guide and support others on their wellness journey.

We realize that sometimes there are waitlists because the meeting rooms are already at capacity. If this happens when you register for a group, there are more ways to find the support you need:

Standby Rooms
The meeting Standby option allows group leaders to invite waitlisted members into a meeting if seats are open (due to no-shows or last-minute cancellations). Members who are on the meeting's waiting list are invited to enter a virtual "standby room" where they wait until any available seats are offered. These seats are then offered to members in the standby room based on the order of the original waitlist. Learn More

DBSA Chapter Network Support Groups
If you're looking for additional support group options, we encourage you to join a support group through our Chapter Network. You can search for an in-person support group in your area, or, several offer online support groups open to peers nationwide.
