About Jonathan

I bring lived experience with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, trauma, more than 30 years of recovery from substance use, divorce, grief, and fatherhood. I support adults who feel overwhelmed, worn down, lonely, or unsure what comes next. You do not have to clean up your story or find the right words before talking with me. I’m not here to diagnose you or tell you how to live. I’m here to listen, share what has helped me when it fits, and help you sort through what you are carrying one step at a time.

My Recovery Story

My recovery has not been a straight line. I have lived with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use challenges, and I have now been in recovery from substance use for more than 30 years. Therapy, medication when needed, healthier routines, boundaries, and support from other people have all helped me build more stability. I have learned to notice warning signs sooner and reach for support before things get too heavy. Recovery has not made life perfect, but it has given me more honesty, purpose, and a clearer sense of what helps me stay steady.

My Motivation To Help

I became a peer supporter because I remember what it felt like to need someone who could listen without trying to fix me. I have been the person walking into a support space unsure what to say and wondering whether anyone would understand. The people who made room for me showed me how much honest, human connection can matter. I want to offer that same kind of support to someone else, especially on the days when they feel alone or worn down.
