About this meeting
Jonathan’s Black Community Peer Support Group is a space for Black adults to come together, exhale, talk honestly, listen, and connect through shared lived experience.
This is a peer-led space where you can talk about mental health, stress, relationships, life changes, feeling overwhelmed, or whatever you may be carrying. You can share, listen, or pass. There is no pressure to have the right words or to give advice.
We support each other through lived experience, mutual respect, and real conversation.
### What to Expect in Meetings
• Gentle check-ins
• Conversations about sleep, anxiety, stress, and everyday life
• Exploring patterns and triggers
• Realistic coping strategies
• Space to speak openly without judgment
• The choice to share, listen, or pass
This is peer support, not therapy, diagnosis, medical treatment, or crisis care.
**If you are struggling or experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis:**
• **Call or text 988** to reach the **988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline**, available 24/7.
**If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency:**
• **Call 911** or go to your nearest emergency room.
• If calling 911 for a mental health crisis, ask for a **Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer**.

About the host
I bring lived experience with bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, trauma, more than 30 years of recovery from substance use, divorce, grief, and fatherhood. I support adults who feel overwhelmed, worn down, lonely, or unsure what comes next. You do not have to clean up your story or find the right words before talking with me. I’m not here to diagnose you or tell you how to live. I’m here to listen, share what has helped me when it fits, and help you sort through what you are carrying one step at a time.
Motivation for help
I became a peer supporter because I remember what it felt like to need someone who could listen without trying to fix me. I have been the person walking into a support space unsure what to say and wondering whether anyone would understand. The people who made room for me showed me how much honest, human connection can matter. I want to offer that same kind of support to someone else, especially on the days when they feel alone or worn down.
