About this meeting
30‑Minute Welcome & Connection Session - A calm space to check in, get support, and see what feels helpful for you. Showing up to something new can feel a little awkward, so we keep this session simple and comfortable. It’s a chance to settle in, share what’s been going on for you, and get a feel for what peer support might look like. What We’ll Do; - Easy intro — A few minutes to get comfortable and ease into the conversation. - Gentle check‑in — You can talk about what’s been on your mind or what brought you here today. - Next‑step options — We’ll look at what kind of support feels right and where you might want to go from here. Who This Fits: - Anyone curious about peer support - People feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or in transition - Anyone wanting a low‑pressure space to talk things through My Style: Warm, steady, and down‑to‑earth. You set the pace, and I help create a space that feels safe, structured, and supportive.

About the host
It’s hard to explain what it’s like when your mental health and physical pain collide. Living with both mental health challenges and chronic pain can feel overwhelming in a way that’s hard to explain to others. I have personal experience with anxiety, depression, and fibromyalgia, which has taught me how important it is to feel truly understood—not just listened to. Along the way, I’ve also facilitated peer support groups through NAMI Greater Houston and serve as a lay chaplain, which deepened my ability to sit with people in difficult, very real moments without trying to “fix” them. As a peer supporter, I offer a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without pressure to have answers or “be okay.” If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or alone in what you're going through, I’m here to support you.
Motivation for help
I want to help my fellow peers because I know what it's like to navigate my mental health condition without support - it's tough and lonely. Volunteering and becoming a Mental Health Peer Specialist has given me the knowledge and strength to be that person to walk alongside another in their journey and let them know you can live the life you want with a mental health condition.
