Hi, I'm Crystal—a certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist, Peer Supervisor, and Forest Therapy Practitioner with over 28 years of experience in behavioral health, education, and youth mentorship. I'm currently earning my Master’s in Neuroscience and Trauma and have worked in diverse settings from classrooms to mountain trails, always guided by a trauma-informed, heart-centered approach. I'm also a proud mother of five, including three sons who have served in the military—one of whom is currently an active officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. My journey has taught me the strength of vulnerability, the healing power of nature, and the importance of lifting others as we rise.
My Recovery Story
Recovery, for me, has been an unfolding path of growth, courage, and choice. From a childhood shaped by addiction and poverty, to raising five children as a single mom and surviving domestic violence, I’ve found strength in reclaiming my story. While disordered eating and perfectionism once defined me, today my worth is rooted in authenticity, creativity, and service. I find deep joy in hiking, painting, playing the violin, and connecting with others—especially when we're outside or sharing real, heart-led conversations.
My Motivation To Help
My motivation is deeply personal—rooted in my lived experiences of overcoming trauma, navigating systems alone, and healing through connection. I believe that peer support is one of the most powerful tools we have to restore dignity, build community, and spark transformation. I show up in this work because I know what it's like to feel unseen—and I want others to feel the opposite in my presence.
