My Recovery Story

I started attending DBSA support groups about 20 years ago. The DBSA groups and the Peer Support I received normalized living with a mood disorder and opened my mind to the possibility of being in recovery from a mood disorder. DBSA support groups saved my life and they helped me begin my recovery journey. In the years following my first DBSA support group, I have gained the skills to live with a mood disorder and thrive in all aspects of my life.

My Motivation To Help

I lived many years with a mood disorder and dealt with many life interruptions due to my mood disorder. I didn't have a full understanding of how I would go from a good place of wellness to being very unwell. About 15 years ago I completed my Wellness Recovery Action Plan and it gave me insight into my own pattern of unraveling. I now know the early warning signs to pay attention to in order to avoid crisis episodes. I would like to share lessons I've learned on my long recovery journey (failures and successes) and to assist peers in gaining the insight they need to avoid the life interruptions a mood disorder can bring.
