About this meeting
In this group, women with Narcolepsy are offered support through pregnancy and parenting young children. Our expert facilitators all have Narcolepsy and have experienced pregnancy, childbirth, breast feeding and raising young children. The meetings allow participants to ask questions and share experiences related to all aspects of this particularly challenging time of life.

About the host
Emily is originally from Utah and now lives in Cleveland, Ohio. She has lived with narcolepsy with cataplexy for 15 years and is the mom of 3 boys (ages 10, 8, and 3). After struggling to identify support and direction on her journey of pregnancy and childbearing with narcolepsy, Emily sought opportunities to offer more resources and encouragement to women on a similar path. Since 2019, she has deeply enjoyed connecting with other women as a facilitator for the Wake up Narcolepsy Pregnancy and Parenting with Narcolepsy peer support group. Emily is also a scientist and a medical writer and has performed research in medication use during lactation with narcolepsy. Emily also enjoys family history research, camping, bicycling, and playing sports with her kids.

The meeting was run in a professional yet casual manner. I felt very welcomed right away. Participants (and facilitators) made meaningful contributions. Everyone seemed to really listen to and respect one another. I really liked that it is more focused on pregnancy, parenting, etc. I've been attending a different virtual narcolepsy support group meeting (through Narcolepsy Network), but find that it can sometimes cover too much of a range of topics each time. Someone at that meeting last week recommended this one to me.
