Biography

I'm a Wisconsin Certified Peer Specialist also certified in Intentional Peer Support, and a Poetry Therapy Practitioner who uses creativity to approach everything I do. I'm passionate about normalizing mental health struggles as a human experience in need of compassion, inclusivity, and creativity. I'm a published poet, nonfiction writer, and teacher who loves my cat, eclectic musical instruments, and holding space for other people to come into their own sense of belonging. I especially love facilitating groups around a variety of topics and have been leading a writing and wellness group for 5 years strong!

My Recovery Story

I am a deep-feeler, a highly sensitive person who has (finally!) learned this is not a negative quality like the world would have me think. What has helped me accept these parts of myself has been living in the middle" and understanding that the structures of either/or thinking have not served me. I have experience with depression, suicidal thoughts & loss from suicide, multi-layered grief, a history of self-harm, and debilitating anxiety. I love connecting with others while also yearning for solitude. I live a life rich in paradoxical feeling & I can finally say I find comfort in that.

My Motivation To Help

Connection has been the way I feel like I belong more in the world. I seek to find the humanity in all of our experiences, thereby normalizing a lot of things that are typically pathologized or stigmatized. "Help" means different things to different people. I choose to think of the work I do as providing a place where people can come into their own knowing of themselves in ways that feel meaningful to them. I think this world is a HARD place to live in and whatever connection, compassion, and creativity I can offer would certainly be mutual.
