Whether you regularly use peer support or are unsure how it even works, I'm willing to talk with you about whatever is on your mind and help support you with the positive as well as the negative and messy parts of life. I'm even here if you just need to infodump about something you're passionate about or vent about a recent issue that you can't really talk about to people around you.

About Eli

I am a transmasculine and disabled peer supporter who loves video games, axolotls, music, and doing DIY clothing and art! I'm involved in quite a few subcultural communities in my local area (mainly goth, emo, and J-fashion) and am working my first semester as a professor in subcultural/fan studies.

My Recovery Story

I often lacked access to mental health resources as a teenager, and a combination of bullying, isolation at home, and focus on academic success above all else made me feel like I'd trapped myself in a situation where I used good grades and being good at martial arts to avoid being seen as a failure or feeling like a burden to my parent. My search for a social life, as a result, was often stuck in cycles of codependence, abuse, and clinging to anything I could get. This attitude bled into my adult life, but I had to quickly adapt my mindset after an injury to my left leg and arm made it impossible to continue martial arts and live life the way I had been before or that I had hoped in the future. My recovery in the past few years has involved a lot of falling through cracks and turbulent relationships while trying to find myself and my community, but I have ultimately been able to get the resources I need, join or create spaces where I can advocate for myself and others to live how they wish, and find purpose in both my past experiences and my future. I want to showcase the progress I've made in my quality of life while also acknowledging that recovery is often something that is never truly "finished" and requires continuous work and support to maintain.

My Motivation To Help

A lot of my motivation to help others is just in my nature, but with peer support, I'm able to use my past experiences to help people who may otherwise be going through what I have and make things a bit easier. I know what it's like to believe that hope is for other, more socially palatable people. I also know how overwhelming it can be to keep track of and access resources for mental and physical health as a person who deals with those issues simultaneously. I want to help people who feel like they have fewer options and support find ways to live a life that's fulfilling to them. I hope someone leaves a session feeling like someone listened to them, appreciated them as the person they are, and made them feel like the life they want is possible and achievable.

Initial Meeting · June 2026

"Really understands what I'm going through, and very relateable. It's always been hard to find the right counselor to talk to about specific creative lifestyle problems, and Eli has been fantastic for that. "
