About the host
I have been a certified peer for nearly 10 years. I have a Ph.D. in Psychology. I am a Certified Trauma Support Specialist and a Life Coach. I am also a Shamanic Healer. I love to help people psychologically and spiritually. My own mental health issues motivated me to seek personal help and to become a life-long learner in finding tools and techniques for people's well-being. Although I have quite a few credentials most of my learning has come from my own personal experiences in trying to maneuver through life's difficulties. I experienced deep agony from my traumas but still have found the strength to forge ahead and do the best I can to help myself and others. As I went into the deepest darkest corners of my existence I learned how to go through my own psychological difficulties and work on the soul level and became a spiritual shamanic healer. As a shamanic healer I am able to channel spirits to help people with their problems. Combining my peer, psychological and spiritual healing abilities I am able to work with people on their deepest issues.
Motivation for help
My own personal traumas provide my motivation to help myself and others with their problems. I now see I had a latent desire to help others but didn't find this passion until I was in my mid 30's. As I grow and evolve throughout life I am able to bring more healing to others.

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance

Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) is the leading peer-focused national organization focused on depression and bipolar disorder. DBSA's peer-based, wellness-oriented, and empowering services and resources are available when people need them, where they need them, and how they need to receive them. This includes online and local support groups, audio and video casts, and printed materials distributed by DBSA, our chapters, and mental health care facilities across America.

DBSA online support groups provide people living with depression and bipolar disorder a place to share experiences, discuss coping skills, and offer hope to one another. DBSA support groups are peer-led, meaning they are facilitated by someone living with a mood disorder who has been trained and certified to guide others on their journey.

DBSA online support group meetings are peer-based self-help groups. In the DBSA context, a peer is a person with a mood disorder. Another distinction of peer is that we are not professionals - physicians and other mental health providers. We are here to assist, encourage, and enableĀ each other to help ourselves.

Please note that the schedule for DBSA support group meetings on HeyPeers has been updated for 2024. To see all available meetings through DBSA, or to find alternatives if you are waitlisted for a group, visitĀ https://www.dbsalliance.org/support/chapters-and-support-groups/.
