State Certified Peer Supporter
Hi friends! I am a single mom of 3 beautiful kids, with WAY too much experience in addiction and mental health! I am a child of 8, with genetic history of mental health issues, trauma, etc. I have a psychology degree and biology minor, but none that compares to life experience and wanting to talk with people and hear stories. I understand the inner workings of nature AND nurture. I also am working on my peer support certification in TX. I have two stickers in my wallet: Mental Health Matters, and Therapy is for Everyone. That sums it up! I am hear to LISTEN. I will not always have the answers. Right now it is about connection, understanding, and feeling heard and supported. I look forward to hearing what you have to share.

State Peer Recovery Specialist
Born in Chicago, but I've been an upstate New Yorker since age 11, starting in the tiny town of Norwich then Binghamton and finally finding my home in Buffalo. I enjoy reading comics and novels, creative writing, tent camping, strategy games, and going to the movie theater with friends. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife is my best friend and the love of my life and last November she gave birth to our daughter, Lizzie. We also have a black lab named Donut and an American shorthair named Xena (although we all call her Kiki.) I have always been an extrovert and social chameleon but over time I've come to love quieter environments and activities, things I can appreciate now that I've learned to like myself and enjoy being alone with only my own thoughts to keep company. I am an avid reader and I love following the development of new techniques and treatments being utilized in the recovery world.

I’m a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, yoga instructor, and somatic healer in long-term recovery, dedicated to helping others find balance and wholeness through holistic wellness. I’m a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in long-term recovery, offering peer support grounded in lived experience. I live with disability and have navigated trauma, addiction recovery, burnout, and rebuilding life from the ground up. My approach is rooted in shared understanding, mutual respect, and honest conversation. I create safe, supportive spaces where people can talk openly about recovery, healing, identity, and finding balance. My work is informed by mindfulness and somatic practices, but first and foremost, I show up as a peer — someone who has been there and believes in the power of connection.
Erica U.
Certified Peer Supporter
My name is Erica U, and I have been a peer support specialist for nearly twenty years. Throughout my career, I’ve supported individuals living with bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, night terrors, anxiety, and the challenges that come with caregiving and navigating mental health systems. I founded Erica's Healing Circle Support Groups because I believe deeply in community healing. Our signature group, Accepting Ourselves, is built around a simple but powerful truth: every person deserves acceptance exactly as they are. We welcome people without judgment — not based on weight, income, appearance, or intellect — but on their humanity.

I've spent 30 years leading and mentoring people in professional settings, always with a "power with" approach rather than "power over." I've also been drumming for over 10 years, and it's become a real tool for me, something I use for grounding and connection. People who know me tend to say I stay steady and empathetic even in hard interpersonal moments, and that's what I want to bring here. My own recovery is a big part of why I'm doing this work. I'm a Texas-certified Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) and Mental Health Peer Specialist (MHPS), and I bring in HealthRhythms group and individual drumming when it fits. Over the past year I've also trained through Crisis Text Line to build on that. At the end of the day, I believe in walking alongside people, not directing from above. I'm here to listen first.
