I’m a certified peer support specialist and coach living in Southern California, I host support group meetings on HeyPeers and also work one-on-one helping support peers with BFRB recovery and recovery from other compulsive behaviors, habits and unhelpful thoughts.  I identify as a neurodivergent woman and mother with ADHD, PMDD, and sensory differences. Since 2020 I’ve been in recovery from skin picking disorder (also known as dermatillomania and excoriation disorder). I’ve since learned that this compulsive habit is called BFRB - Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors. I believe in the power of community and have been attending various types of support groups since 2017. In my free time I like to craft with yarn and spend time outdoors hiking while looking for pretty rocks.

I enjoy coffee, in the mornings with some quiet time for reflection. I believe we grow and heal together, living in our humanity and not being reduced to numbers and dollar signs. This journey of continuous learning, understanding the influence of deep wounds (some call it trauma) of past has brought me to this place of support that Hey Peers provides. Some life stuff, abandonment, adoption, physical and emotional harm, substance use and recovery, Hep C and treatment, psychiatric system, heart surgery, parenthood & more. I am incredibly thankful to have learned how to treat myself with kindness, respect and awareness of what works for me. I love the connection that peer support gives; being with others who understand helps me navigate both the heaviness and the joys of life. You are here now, in this space of support with many phenomenal certified peer facilitators, welcome!

Blessings of deep peace be with you. I'm grateful you are here. I am Madonna ~ mother, grandmother, teacher of beautiful things, encourager of spirit, story keeper, companion, and someone who has known both the unendurable and the quiet turn toward joy. " … The unendurable is the beginning of the curve of joy.” I have spent many years with people carrying more than they believed they could, enduring the quiet exhaustion of simply trying to stay well. I am here as a peer who has walked the dark edges of sorrow and encountered sweet mercy. I have learned that healing often begins the moment someone’s story is met with kindness and belief. I hope to see you soon in my groups and in specialized one-to-one care and support. If you would like a safe, confidential place to meet for specialized one-to-one support, I am accepting new connections. Please request to be added as a contact using the “Connect” button, and we can begin the conversation your soul has been yearning for. We can begin exactly where you are, at the pace your heart can hold. I know how heavy life can feel, and you don't have to face life's edges alone. We are held, even when we cannot feel it. I walk this path as a believer who trusts the Light that dispels all darkness, knowing that Light arrives in beautiful, unexpected ways. The compassionate spiritual care I provide supports spiritual growth through faith-rooted soul care, recognizing that spiritual abuse and church hurt are very real for many. I am a Messianic Christian, coming from a long line of Indigenous healers with a living trust in our Creator, Sustainer, and Healer. “What delight comes to the one who follows God's ways.” Deep peace, Madonna *Credentials: Chaplain, Rev, M.Div., CSD, CADC, CPSS Clinical Therapeutic Musician Certified Practitioner of the Social/Emotional Arts *Where you will find me: One-to-One Peer Support: Scheduling Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm EST. *Offerings: Soul Care for Women There's Gold in Your Story Writing Group The Gathering Mindfulness for Resiliency Monday Morning Christian Meditation for CPSSs Plumbline Collective Spiritual Direction Life Coaching

My brain's… a lot. If yours is too, you're in good company! At my core, I'm a punkish creative & introspective nerd type. Hence why I get along with misfits so well. But I've spent most of my life feeling out of step—too much, not enough, and under a dark cloud I couldn't name. In my 30s I discovered I'm autistic with a side helping of ADHD. That was on top of a long history of anxiety, anorexia, trauma, and depression telling me I'm garbage. Footnote: I'm not, and you're probably not either. Life's thrown me its share of UGH and I've spent a lot of time learning to stop hating my brain. Still kind of a love/hate relationship, actually. But progress is progress. On paper, I’m a Certified Peer Support Specialist with ongoing training and all that. In practice, I’m just someone who’s been through a lot of the same mental health mess and sits in it with you.

Please allow up to 48 hours for chat responses. Check my profile for current availability and schedule updates. Thank you for your patience and for continuing to grow with me! ~Welcome! My name is Candace. I’m a Peer Specialist-CMPSS based in California. I hold a BA in Psychology and have over 14 years of experience in community mental health and community building, always moving toward the same goal: creating spaces where people can show up as themselves — not a collection of symptoms, diagnoses, or as a performance, but as whole human beings. I’ve moved through anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, PMDD, having ADHD, being autistic, and a lifetime of sensory overload that comes with it. I believe recovery is about finding your way back to yourself — taking stock of what needs to be released and what you want to make room for — and building from there. I don’t believe it is a one stop destination or about making yourself more palatable. I’m a creative at heart — painting, dance, baking, and singing are how I reconnect with myself. They remind me that healing can also be expressive, joyful, and deeply human. My focus is supporting neurodivergent individuals and people living with chronic illnesses to connect, grow, and learn in a supportive community. The spaces I hold are sacred, and I am honored to hold them. They are grounded in authenticity, healing, humor, and genuine care — and this is why I protect them with intention. Confidentiality and informed consent are non-negotiable for me and the spaces I hold. My groups are not clinical training grounds. They are healing spaces, and the stories, experiences, and safety of participants deserve to be respected by everyone who attends. No Student, Clinical Observation, Self-Promotion of Personal Services Allowed.

My name is Cindy and I have been in recovery for 21 years. After a divorce 26 years ago, I spiraled out of control with substance abuse and mental health issues. At the beginning of my recovery I discovered my purpose and that purpose is too support people who struggle with substance abuse and mental health issues. I have continued to discover who I am through peer support where my story and the story of others has given me the freedom to work on the best version of myself. I can not change anyone but I certainly can support others to offer hope and peace.

Hi there! It’s so lovely to meet you. My name is Kimberly, but most people call me Kim. I am a mental health advocate, activist, and a Certified Peer and Family Specialist. From as young as I can remember, I knew I wanted to help people. I worked in retail for the better part of my life and loved the connections that I built, but hated the pressure of selling to people. It was when I was diagnosed with my mental health conditions that I knew what I wanted to do. As someone with their own lived experience with mental health challenges and trauma, I have sought to connect with others, deepening my empathy and compassion for those who feel like they don’t fit in with society. I am deeply invested in engaging in the fight against stigma and shame, and believe healthcare and social support should be accessible to everyone, no matter where they come from. In addition to my work as a peer specialist, I am also a Certified QPR Suicide Prevention Instructor, a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, and an Intentional Peer Support trainer. I am also very passionate about social causes and justice, human rights, and equity and inclusivity. It’s hard to explain what it’s like when your mental health and physical pain collide. Living with both mental health challenges and chronic pain can feel overwhelming in a way that’s hard to explain to others. I have personal experience with anxiety, depression, and fibromyalgia, which has taught me how important it is to feel truly understood—not just listened to. Along the way, I’ve also facilitated peer support groups through NAMI Greater Houston and serve as a lay chaplain, which deepened my ability to sit with people in difficult, very real moments without trying to “fix” them. As a peer supporter, I offer a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without pressure to have answers or “be okay.” If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or alone in what you're going through, I’m here to support you.
